ScreeningsForLife.com exists to provide women with valuable breast health information available for themselves and their family and friends. Our community has many professional and reliable resources available who will answer any questions concerning breast health. We want to encourage women to use these resources so that they may gain the knowledge and understanding needed to take good care of themselves!
Local Resources
American Cancer Society is a non-profit organization that provides information to people with cancer. The ACS offers a variety of opportunities for our community to lend their time and talent to the fight against cancer that will help make a difference in a cancer patient and their family’s lives.
Arizona Oncology Resource Services has many resources that are available for cancer patients. Services include a Lending Library, One wig and three head coverings, Touch Therapy, Movement Classes, Nutritional Consultations, Cancer Counseling, Cancer Support Groups, Resource Volunteers. Bag It! is a non-profit organization that provides information to people with cancer and their families.
Beat Cancer Boot Camp is a fitness-based support program created to help survivors stay active during cancer treatment and beyond.
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is more than a walk, the American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event describes the progress we’re making together to save lives and create a world with less breast cancer and more birthdays.
Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is more than a race, this organization is a community contact for all breast health needs. From outreach and education about risk factors and early detection of breast cancer, to staffing a local office for support and information for all those affected by this disease, the Southern Arizona Affiliate provides caring support to the people in our community.
The Well Woman HealthCheckProgram is a state-wide program that provides free cancer screening to women that qualify. Women on the program may receive a Clinical Breast Exam, Mammogram, Pelvic Exam, and Pap Test. To qualify, call 1-888-257-8502. The Well Woman HealthCheck Program is operated by the Arizona Department of Health Services through a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control Prevention.
Private Resources
Cancer Hope Network matches patients and families with trained volunteers who have recovered from a similar cancer experience.
CancerCare provides support, information, and financial and practical help to people with cancer and their loved ones free of charge.
Family Caregiver Alliance addresses the needs of families and friends who provide long-term care at home.
Gilda’s Club, Inc. provides social and emotional support for cancer patients and their families and friends.
Lance Armstrong Foundation seeks to inspire and empower people living with, through, and beyond cancer to live strong! It provides education, advocacy, public health and research programs.
NeedyMeds lists medicine assistance programs available from drug companies. A provider, nurse, or social work must contact them on behalf of your loved one.
National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) provides information, education, support, public awareness, and advocacy for caregivers.
Federal Agency Resources
National Cancer Institute (NCI) answers questions about cancer clinical trials and cancer-related services and helps users find information on the NCI Web site. Provides NCI printed materials.
American Dietetic Association (ADA) is a professional society of registered dietitians and other professionals working in food-and nutrition-related fields.
NCI Informational Booklets at the National Cancer Institute offers free books for cancer patients, their families and friends, and books on a variety of useful cancer related topics.
