Barbara: Breast Cancer Survivor

A Survivor of Breast Cancer

Barbara had been getting her annual mammograms since she was 40. One month while doing her self-exam she noticed strange wrinkles on the underside of her breast. Though she had a mammogram nine months earlier, which reported normal, she preceded to schedule an appointment with her primary care provider. A new mammogram didn’t indicate cancer however a second test, a breast ultrasound did show abnormal images. A biopsy proved her concerns warranted when it came back positive for breast cancer.

Barbara is adamant about spreading the word to women to get regular breast screenings. And should you be diagnosed with breast cancer, Barbara shares that a positive attitude can make all the difference, “If you stay positive you will make it through everything.”
