Diana: Breast Cancer Survivor since 2009

When Diana was diagnosed with cancer her source of strength came through the support from her partner, family and friends. At first the news was overwhelming, for her but quickly a different type of feeling overpowered her as she found herself surrounded by so many people who cared so much for her. With feelings of dignity and courage, Diana says “I realized that this is survivorable. What could have been a lonely and impossible time for me was actually very uplifting as everyone rallied around me.”
Diana found herself aware that though many people did things for her, sometimes it was those who were just present that lifted her the most. “My partner was there at every turn, in the doctor’s office, during the treatments, throughout my recovery.” She confides, “ I wouldn’t have made it without her love and support. It was the quiet presence of so many that I was amazed had such a strong impact on me.” The support she received was so significant in her recovery that Diana calls it a model for her to help others going through cancer.
