Tara: Breast Cancer Survivor since 2007

Because there was a family history of breast cancer Tara’s mammograms were an annual ritual even before her 40’s. One day she brushed something off her chest and felt a lump. She scheduled an appointment with her Oncologist and brought her most recent mammogram films with her. When he put them up to the light to look at them he was appalled, they were so foggy that he could determine nothing from them. It appeared that the facility she was going to did not provide quality work or state-of-the-art technology so her doctor immediately sent Tara to Radiology Ltd. for a digital mammogram. On her next appointment with the doctor the films were so clear, that even she could see the tumor in her breast image. Horror struck her as she wondered if she had gone to a better facility earlier would the cancer have been detected sooner.
Tara is confident that the quality of the screening facility you go to is essential in early detection. She says, “Not all equipment is the same. Women need to know what to ask when they are looking for a screening facility.”
